Eugene Fencers Club Home Page
What's new?
Thanks to everyone who showed up August 28 for EFC's entry into the Eugene Celebration Parade! You did (and looked) great and we were very popular with the crowds!
Now to get ready for our regular fencing season! We plan on starting Club again Sept 7 at Roosevelt Middle School, once we get the final OK on the date from District 4J. Membership rates will be similar to last year, although the school raised our hourly rental rates again so we will have to raise our fees slightly to cover this cost. We also plan to offer fencing at North Eugene High School on Monday nights.
We'll post updates on this website as things become finalized. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday evening, Sept. 7, at Roosevelt.
Can you believe that the Eugene Fencers Club will start up again soon? But even before Club starts, we need your help! The Eugene Fencers Club is in the 2010 Eugene Celebration Parade, and THE PARADE IS 10AM, ON AUGUST 28! Surprise! The Eugene Celebration is the last week of August this year.
Important: WE NEED at least 15 people - fencers, family members, even just friends - to march with us. You can dress like your favorite swashbuckler, or just wear your fencing whites. Family members and friends should wear white clothes (think white sweats), if they don't dress like swashbucklers.
No fencing experience required! Help hold our banner, wave your weapon, fence with a friend, and/or show off your inner Zorro.
We especially need intermediate and advanced fencers in our parade unit, so that we can show a wide range of abilities of our Club members.
WHERE TO MEET. The Eugene Fencers Club is unit #58, and will be meeting on 11th Avenue, between Oak and Mill, by 9:30 am.
Please contact Club member Natalie Whitson at mww@efn.org or 541-343-7682 (home) or 541-349-7505 (during the day) ASAP, to let her know we can count on you, to help get the word out about the Eugene Fencers Club.
If Natalie hasn't heard from you by Saturday, please expect her call. We also need a child's wagon if you have one, to put our extra gear in during the parade. Please tell her if you can help.
Get ready to celebrate fencing and fence/march with us in little more than a week.

Equipment
EFC provides all basic fencing and safety equipment (mask, glove, jacket and weapon) free of charge for use in class. Please wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes (no shorts, please) to each class period. There is a limited, but adequate supply of electric equipment for use by club members. However, we highly encourage purchase of personal equipment for competitive use. Please understand, due to the vast number of suppliers on the web, it is very easy to purchase equipment of questionable quality. We encourage you to discuss vendors with Paul who has 30 years experience purchasing, and who will help you get the best value for your money.
Class / Club fees
Monthly membership is $60/month, which includes 3 nights of fencing each week, including time at North Eugene on Mondays. Family rates available and also discounts for those paying for 3 months at a time. Those wanting to only fence one night a week on Tuesday or Thursday pay $45/month.
North Eugene: You can participate in this class free of charge, and get more time electric fencing, as part of your regular full (Roosevelt MS) EFC membership. Fencers who use only this facility (no Roosevelt MS classes) will pay $40.00/month and will register through the River Road Parks Department.

EFC thanks
The Eugene Fencers Club thanks Blue Gauntlet Fencing USA for their support and sponsorship of prizes of the EFC's 2008 Ides of March Invitational Tournament.
The Eugene Fencers Club also wishes to thank the City of Eugene Athletics Department and the Parks and Recreation Department for the very valuable sponsorship they have granted us over the years. Since 1978, the Athletics Department has provided us with facilities, staff time, gym use and most important, encouragement in our program. This has allowed the Eugene Fencers Club to flourish as an organization and has allowed us to provide a valuable alternative sport for the community at large. Many times through the years the many students who have gone through our program have confirmed their gratefulness to the Parks and Recreation Department for helping our program to be as successful as it has been. We look forward with gratitude to the continuing relationship with the City Athletics Department in the years ahead.
